Philosophy

I have been a student of the stock market since 1974. Over the years, I have studied and experimented with just about every kind of methodology. Even though investing’s Holy Grail remains as elusive as ever, my search has been fruitful.

What I’ve Learned

I’ve learned that people who are successful in the markets, have both a highly developed personal investment philosophy and a well thought out written investment process.

What works best for one person most likely won’t work for someone else. It isn’t enough to just have a plan, you must have a plan that is in writing and you must have the discipline to stick to your plan when every fiber in your body is telling you something different.

I entered this investment profession in 1982 and from my front row seat seen firsthand the dynamics of change in the stock market. What was a sure thing 20 years ago doesn’t work today. Just as the markets keep changing, investors must also change to keep pace.

The Intelligent Trader is my personal investment portfolio. The trades that I make are real (not wishful thinking) and are made in a real investment account (not a model portfolio).
